The UK has always had a special place in my heart. Some of my best holidays were spent exploring its cities and countryside. From lively cities to quiet villages, here are 10 unforgettable places to add to your UK travel itinerary.
London, England

Big Ben (My photo)
The heart of the UK, London, blends timeless history with modern energy. One of my favorite things to do in London is to walk through Kensington Gardens and feed the swans and ducks. And nothing beats wandering around the city visiting famous landmarks like Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Trafalgar Square.
Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh Castle (Creutzer, L. (2018, April 14). Castle · Free Stock Photo. Pexels. https://www.pexels.com/photo/castle-968705/)
Edinburgh is straight out of a fantasy novel. Hike up Arthur’s Seat for dreamy skyline views, wander through Edinburgh Castle, and explore Victoria Street, said to have inspired Diagon Alley. Although the trip was mainly for my dad’s MBA graduation, we still had fun shopping around Victoria Street and soaking in its charm.
The Cotswolds, England

Bourton-on-the-Hill (Miller, C. (2025, June 24). Charming Cotswold Village Street in England · Free Stock Photo. Pexels. https://www.pexels.com/photo/charming-cotswold-village-street-in-england-32696226/)
Honey-colored cottages, tea rooms, and sheep meandering through the fields define the Cotswolds. I was only there for a day trip, but it was the dreamiest place I’ve ever been to. I’d love a couple of days there to explore and walk through Castle Combe or Bibury. Both of which are so cinematic that they’ve appeared in films like Downton Abbey and Stardust.
Bath, England

Bath has been high on my travel list for years. There’s something about its mix of ancient Roman bathing pools and sleek spa culture that feels so inviting. Marvel at Royal Crescent or take a dip at Thermae Bath Spa, soaking in rooftop views with steam curling around you. Fun Fact: Jane Austen lived here!
York, England

York is old, like founded by the Romans in AD 71 old. I haven’t been yet, but every photo of York Minster and the medieval Shambles makes me want to explore them in person. I’d also love to walk atop the ancient city walls and have a proper Yorkshire pudding with gravy.
Oxford, England

Oford swept me away the first time I visited. Oxford is dripping with academic charm, and as a Harry Potter fan, I’ve always dreamed of attending the university. Seeing the many university buildings that were filming locations for Harry Potter, including the Bodleian Library and Christ Church’s Great Hall, made the movie feel real. But by far my favorite thing was to go punting along the river.
Cambridge, England

Cambridge is another place that is high on my travel list. Cambridge offers scholarly elegance. I’d love to take a dreamy punt along the River Cam beneath the Bridge of Sighs, and explore leafy college courtyards. Its bookstores, markets, and vintage cafes make it the ideal place for a slow afternoon.
Isle Of Skye, Scotland

A jaw-dropping paradise of cliffs, waterfalls, and misty mountains, the Isle of Skye is even more breathtaking in person. When I visited, the landscape felt unreal, with deep greens and a kind of quiet magic everywhere you look. Visit the Fairy Pools, magical blue waters that are straight out of a fairytale. Although the water is freezing, so take a dip at your own risk. The Isle of Skye is perfect for adventurers who want something wild and fun.
Lake District, England

The Lake District feels like a place I already know I’ll fall in love with, with its rolling hills and mirror-like lakes. The Lake District has inspired generations of writers and artists, including Beatrix Potter. Hike Catbells, sail on Lake Windermere, or grab a cozy pub lunch. Rain is part of the charm, so just remember to pack a cute umbrella.
Brighton, England

An arty seaside gem with colorful beach huts, indie shops in The Lanes, and the iconic Brighton Palace Pier. My favorite part was the pier itself, with its rides and games that made the day so much fun. Brighton is perfect for a chill beach day.
With its rich history, sweeping landscapes, and literary legends, the UK invites you to slow down and savor each corner. So grab your umbrella and get ready for an unforgettable British adventure!
